Indonesia's Tin Exports Fall - KOMPAS.com: "JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s tin ingot exports in November 2011 plunged to 2,202.04 tons worth US$43.81 million from 5,441.58 tons worth US$108.98 million a month earlier, data show.

According to a Trade Ministry report released on Thursday, Indonesia in November 2011 only exported 2,151.10 tons of tin ingots to Singapore and 50.94 tons of tin ingots to the Netherlands.

In the previous months, Indonesia’s tin ingot exports went to at least 10 countries. In July and August Indonesia exported tin ingots to 13 countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, China, India, Thailand, Turkey and Australia. Indonesia’s tin exports began to fall when many tin exporters agreed to suspend tin exports due to low price in the global market.

Tin exporters in Bangka Belitung province, Indonesia’s largest tin producer, agreed to temporarily suspend tin exports starting on October 1, 2011, citing the declining tin price in the global market as a reason.

Tin price fell to US$19,000 per ton in September 2011 from US$33,000 per ton in April 2011. But it moved up again to US$22,000 per ton in November 2011."
