House proposes 17 new autonomous regions | The Jakarta Post

House proposes 17 new autonomous regions | The Jakarta Post: "The House of Representatives Commission II says that it is ready to propose 17 new autonomous regions to the government.
The proposed new regions include Central Buton, South Manokwari, East Kolaka, Pangadara, and North Musi Rawas.
However, the commission said it doubted that the proposal, prepared by the House legislative body, would be well received by the government.
Commission II deputy chairman Ganjar Pranowo said on Sunday his doubts were reasonable since the government had yet to process previous proposals for 20 new autonomous regions.
“The government has not followed up on our previous proposal of 20 new autonomous regions since 2009. It is now 2011, but there has been no progress,” he was quoted as saying by kontan.co.id.
Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi said his ministry would consider the House's proposal only after the amendment of the 2004 Law No. 32 on Regional Government was passed."
