Democratic Party faction approves Nazaruddin's departure | The Jakarta Post: "House of Representatives Democratic Party chairman Jafar Hafsah said Friday that his faction had approved a leave request submitted by troubled lawmaker M. Nazaruddin, who left Indonesia for Singapore on May 23.
“[Nazaruddin] called in sick. He also submitted a
letter [requesting leave] and we granted the request,” Jafar said Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
“He wasn't running away,” Jafar added.
However, Jafar said he had no idea what sickness Nazaruddin was suffering from or which hospital in Singapore he was receiving treatment at."

“He left for Singapore. He didn't say what hospital or for how long,” he said.
Nazaruddin, a lawmaker and former treasurer to the ruling Democratic Party, who is currently under the media spotlight for his alleged involvement in several graft cases, left for Singapore before the Corruption Eradication Commission had issued a travel ban on him.
The directorate general of immigration issued a travel ban on the lawmaker on Tuesday.
However, Nazaruddin took a Garuda Indonesia flight to Singapore at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Law and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar said Thursday.
In contrast to Jafar’s statement, Democratic Party advisory board deputy chairman Achmad Mubarok said he knew nothing of Nazaruddin's movements.
“I didn’t know he left or for what purpose. He shouldn't have to report [such excursions] to the board,” Achmad said.
