A former U.S. Senate investigator who had previously worked for the CIA was arrested Monday and charged with repeatedly leaking classified information to journalists as well as violating the federal law that forbids disclosing the identity of covert intelligence officers.
John Kiriakou, who between 2009 and last year worked as an investigator for Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was charged by a federal grand jury with one count of violating the Intelligence Agencies Protection Act, two counts of violating the Espionage Act and one count of lying to the CIA about his actions in an effort to convince the agency to let him publish a book, "The Reluctant Spy: My Secret Life in the CIA's War on Terror.""

54 Pelajar Jayapura Terinfeksi HIV/AIDS - KOMPAS.com: "SENTANI, KOMPAS.com - Kurang lebih 54 orang pelajar/mahasiswa di Kabupaten Jayapura, Provinsi Papua dinyatakan terinfeksi HIV/AIDS.
Sekretaris Komisi Penanggulangan AIDS (KPA) Kabupaten Jayapura Purnomo, di Sentani, Minggu (22/1/2012) mengatakan, dari 796 orang yang terinfeksi (ODHA) HIV/AIDS 54 di antaranya adalah dari kalangan pelajar atau mahasiswa.
"Terlepas sebagai pengurus di KPA, kami sebagai orang tua sangat miris. Sebab meskipun mereka tetap menuntut ilmu, namun tetap masa depan mereka suram," katanya.
Purnomo mengatakan, mahasiwa yang terinfeksi HIV/AIDS tidak mencapai 54 kasus, seandainya mereka mempunyai kesadaran sendiri untuk melakukan pemeriksaan secara rutin. Karena, menurut Purnomo, kasus HIV/AIDS di daerah ini diibaratkan gunung es. "Artinya yang terlihat baru sedikit sementara yang belum terdeteksi jumlahnya lebih besar," katanya."

Umat Hindu "Jagra" di Besakih Peringati Syiwaratri - KOMPAS.com: "DENPASAR, KOMPAS.com - Ribuan umat Hindu di Bali menggelar ritual tidak tidur semalam atau "Jagra" di Pura Besakih, Kabupaten Karangasem, mulai Minggu (22/1) malam hingga Senin pagi, untuk memperingati Syiwaratri.
Syiwaratri dirayakan 420 hari sekali oleh umat Hindu di Pulau Dewata sebagai introspeksi diri atas perbuatan yang dilakukan selama hidupnya.
Gubernur Bali Made Mangku Pastika didampingi istri, Ny Ayu Pastika, Bupati Karangasem Wayan Geredeg, Bupati Klungkung Wayan Candra, dan Wakil Bupati Badung I Ketut Sudikerta, serta sejumlah pejabat berbaur dengan masyarakat mengikuti serangkaian ritual tersebut di tempat suci umat Hindu yang berjarak 85 kilometer dari Denpasar itu.
"Sejak Minggu sore hingga Senin pagi, umat datang secara bergelombang ke Besakih," kata Kepala Biro Humas Pemprov Bali I Ketut Teneng."
